Jack was walking down to the toy shop. He saw an big dog near the toy shop. The dog looked big, like a lion. It watched Jack. Jack stopped walking. A woman was standing near the dog.
"Excuse me," Jack said. "Does your dog bite?"
"No," the woman said, "my dog doesn't bite."
Jack walked beside the dog. Suddenly the dog jumped up and bit Jack.
"Hey!" Jack said to the woman.
"You said your dog doesn't bite!".
"It doesn't," the woman said. "That's not my dog."

<Topic 2> Who Wins?

A little rabbit got lost in a forest. He went around the forest to look for something to eat. It got darker and darker. The rabbit felt very tired. He fell asleep under a tree.
A lion found the rabbit. The lion said,
"I will eat you right now. I'm very hungry."
A bear was passing by and said to the lion, "Don't touch that rabbit. It's mine! I found it before you."
"Oh, no! I found it first. It's mine," the lion said.
They began to fight over the rabbit. At last, they became tired. Then a fox came by and said, "Thanks, my good friends." The smart fox laughed at them. Then he went away with the rabbit.

LET'S TALK

Dialogue 1

Arthur Conan Doyle got to a hotel in Paris by taxi.
He paid the taxi driver.

Driver: Thank you very much, Mr. Conan Doyle.
Doyle: How do you know my name?
Driver: The newspaper said that you were coming to Paris from the south.
Doyle: Really?
Driver: Yes. Also, you are wearing English clothes and an English hat.
Doyle: That's surprising!
Can you really know my name with that little tip?
Driver: Well, your name is on your bag.
        That helped me a little.
