Mom. These are my friends, Cathy and Mike.

Very glad to see you.

Nice to meet you. My name is Catherine Smith. But just call me Cathy.

Glad to see you, too. I am Mike, Michael Johnson.

You are very tall.

You are the tallest in your class, aren't you?

I don't think so. I am the second tallest, I think.

 

 

Dialog 2

 

A : What country is the largest?

B : I am sure Russia is the largest country in the world.

A : I don't think so.

Canada is much larger than Russia.

B : Sorry. I'm afraid not.

A : Then, why don't we ask somebody else?

B : Sure. Oh, there goes Mr. Baker.

A : Let's go and ask him.

B : That's a good idea.

Yumi and Cathy were waiting for Minsu and Mike at an ice cream shop. While they were waiting, they decided to play a trivia game.

Cathy asked, "Do you know what is the most common language in the world?" Yumi answered, "Of course, I know. It's Chinese." "You're right. Then, What is the next most common language?" asked Cathy again. "Well, it's English, isn't it?" said Yumi. "Right again," said Cathy.

 "OK, I will ask you a question. What is the largest city in the world?" asked Yumi. Cathy was not sure. So she asked, "New York or Seoul?" "Neither of them. Mexico City is the largest city in the world," answered Yumi.

"Well, I will ask you another question. Tell me what is the biggest ocean in the world," said Cathy. "That's easy. The Pacific Ocean," answered Yumi in no time.

"Then, what is the longest river in the world?" asked Cathy. Yumi said, "That's a good question. Let's see. The Amazon?" "No. The Nile," said Cathy.

"Really? I will ask you one more question. What's the longest word in English?" asked Yumi. Cathy said, " I don't know. What is it?" Yumi answered, smiling, "Smiles. It's because there is a 'mile' between the first letter and the last letter."
